Before I start this post, I just want to express how absolutely beyond glad I am that I took the time to tidy and sort my little corner of the conservatory to work in. Not because, as you’d be forgiven for thinking, I’ve got somewhere organised to craft and write (although it has to be said, my productivity levels have shot up), but because I’ve got a light, bright space to take photographs in. Which is lucky really, as it is still bleeding freezing down here on the South Coast (it’s actually snowing at the moment), and there’s no way I’m prepared to fanny about in sub-zero temperatures and gale force winds just to get a picture of a frock. Not on your nelly.
Cardigan – Paul Smith // Dress – eBay // Necklace – homemade from vintage beads // Belt – eBay // Tights – H&M // Clogs – Lotta from Stockholm |
The other day I found this dress stuffed in the wardrobe, sandwiched between a t-shirt I’ve never worn and another dress that I’ve…. never worn. Ahem. I bought it on eBay a while back – it had been on my watch list for five days, and I snagged it for a bargain at the very last second. I love everything about it; the fact that it’s slightly shaped at the waist, the colour, the print, the length… it’s pretty much my ideal dress. I’m pretty much in love with the cardi – it was part of my uniform allowance before I left Paul Smith, and it’s become one of my favourite pieces of clothing. It’s really, really thick, but still manages not to look too oversized, which can be hard with chunky knits.
I made the neckace myself from some old vintage beads (at one time I was intending to make lots and sell them, but when it came down to it, I couldn’t part with them. So that was the end of that little enterprise…) and a piece of, erm, elastic. Technical stuff. And my clogs are my beloved Lotta from Stockholm pair – I’m hoping that the temperature might creep above -474693729 soon, so I can wear them with bright painted toenails and no damn tights.
I have to say, this weather is giving me the right hump. My instinct is to just put on six jumpers and PJ bottoms, never mind tights and a dress – what are you wearing while the weather is still so cold? Are you a tights and dress person, or strictly into your jeans?
PS – Look who photobombed me at the last minute!
This was done with a self-timer. Be impressed, people. |
um that cardigan is amazing!! Loving these posts xx
Great outfit lady. How could you have forgotten about that dress? I would love some clogs like that too. Adds to wishlist……..x
Thanks! I don't know, it was just sort of squashed in the back of the cupboard! Lotta clogs are amazing, and I can't recommend them enough – I think I'm going to get the apple green ones when the weather warms up! x
How cute are your kids!? And you! Soooooo what's your secret? I have a one year old and a 4 year old and I can hardly manage a shower let alone to look photo shoot ready! Respect. Jo xx
Aahhh, thank you! Well, I started taking these photos about a month ago, and let them stack up a bit before I started posting them – I certainly don't have time to take photos every day. It all depends on what mood the kiddos are in, and whether I can tempt them with CBeebies for ten minutes! x PS You always look fab x
it's great that you are digging out new outfits, it's so easy in this cold to just keep slinging on the same things which you know are warm. I don't have quite as much variety as you I think but there are definitly some forgotten things in my wardrobe! cute kids! Heather x
In all honesty, when I had this on I was so tempted to go and put my jeans and jumper on, but I stuck with it – it was strangely satisfying once I got to the end of the day! I'm learning a lot about what I really like to wear, and I've already sorted out a huge pile of stuff for the charity shop, which has worryingly left me with only one pair of jeans and a skirt for the bottom half. Ha!Thanks for the kid words about the kiddos 🙂 x
Vicky, I was inspired by you and wore a dress and tights the other day. (I didn't make it all the way through the day, but it was a start!)Jo x
Wahoo – I can identify with the mid-day lure of the jeans! x
Loooooooooooooooooooove this!
Ahh, thank you!
