found: vivi dot accessories

If you’ve been reading for a while, you might remember that I used to do a regular feature called ‘Friday Etsy Love’ which was full of lovely clothes, shoes, vintage bits and bobs and homewares that I’d stumbled across on Etsy. I loved doing it, but to be honest it took so long to collate that I gave it up. I do love featuring independent designers, and quirky things though (and somehow, some of them end up in our house. Not sure how that happens…. ahem…), so I’m introducing a new feature called simply, ‘found’. It’ll focus on one designer at a time, meaning you get to see more of their work, and read more about them.

You probably know by now (because I tend to mention it now and then…) that I’m mad for prints; prints on clothes, prints on homewares, fabrics, lampshades, shoes – if it comes with a quirky pattern or some brightly coloured florals, I’m pretty much going to love it. So when I stumbled across the wonderful accessories by Molly Hooper of Vivi Dot, I fell immediately in love with her simple but eclectic range of jewellery and hair clips. Look, look!

Molly and her husband Duncan, who named the business after Molly’s Grandmothers, Vivi and Dot, design the fabrics, before having them printed and then pressed into a button. The buttons are glued to the findings, and made into a range of amazing accessories, from necklaces to cocktail rings, hair clips to earrings. I’m massively in love with the larger necklaces, all featured above – one of my favourite ways to dress up an oversized top or t-shirt is buy adding a statement or bib necklace. Nothing better!

Vivi Dot are based in Seattle in the US, but happily, Molly ships to the UK. The prices are really reasonable too; hairclips from £5, cocktail rings from £10 and necklaces from £20 – you’d easily pay that and more in Topshop, and I know where I’d rather spend my money!

You can view all pieces pictured over in Molly’s shop on Etsy, and don’t forget to check out her blog too.

What beauties, especially the bike motif items. Would it be too much if I had bike hair clips specifically for when I'm out and about on my bicycle!?

Not at all – in fact I'm actively encouraging it. Make sure you post pictures!
