The best thing about living in Hampshire, is that you’re never more than about ten minutes away from either the city, the sea or the countryside, so it’s pretty easy for us to just pack up the car and head out for the day. Our beach of choice is usually West Witterings, which is just past Chichester, and is simply miles and miles of golden sands – the only downside is that it’s a whopping £6.50 to park for the whole day. The Husband had heard good things about East Witterings, which is close by, but significantly cheaper, so we headed off there for a day instead.
We were expecting more golden sands, so imagine our surprise (read: horror) when we turned the corner with the buggy to discover steep steps and miles of shingle – even our off-road monster-style buggy couldn’t handle that terrain. We made do with a wander along the path instead, and I took some photographs, so it wasn’t an entirely wasted trip – it’s simply more what I’d call a ‘seaside’ rather than a beach. The little houses were incredible though; all those thatched roofs, wooden doors and cobbled brickwork made me want to pack up and move!
The house below actually reminded me of the cottage from The Woman in Black!
It does look lovely there! Such pretty little houses! But as you say, not exactly West Wittering on the beach front! There is clearly a reason for the £6.50 parking charge…. xx
Haha, that's what we said! It's a nice little place, but not really baby-friendly 🙂 x
it looks beautiful!
It was great for photography, but not so much for the kiddos! Those houses though – the stuff of dreams!
That looks lovely. Did you buy any of the fish?
Not this time – I can't stand seafood and the others don't like fish, ha!
What gorgeous houses…and what a shame about the beach! The beach pic of people in the sea is lovely though – those clouds look magic.x
I can see exactly what you mean about the cottage in The Woman in Black! Nothing like a day by the sea 🙂
